Why did Mario hate Mushrooms in the Illumination Movie, reveals Miyamoto

The Mario tape is already available in home format and new details have been revealed in the extra content, such as that the team wanted to do a Mario Kart scene from the beginning.

Super Mario Bros, The Movie is now available in domestic format after sweeping the international box office and becoming the third highest-grossing animated film of all time, a milestone for the genre and video game adaptations on the big screen.

As expected, the DVD and Blu-ray versions of the Illumination and Nintendo films include a series of extra content in which we can discover some curiosities thanks to previously unpublished comments from the creative minds behind the project.

As we can see in the attached video, Shigeru Miyamoto suggested that the plumber didn’t like mushrooms because he thought it was funny. Likewise, the creator of the saga taught the Illumination team to draw Bowser’s nose, which greatly resembles the noses of tigers.

Koji Kondo, the composer of many of the legendary Super Mario tunes, had access to a preliminary version of the film to take notes and think of classic themes from the series that would fit well in the scenes.

As if that were not enough, in the extras it has also been revealed that the Illumination team wanted from the first moment in which the tape was raised that there would be a scene from Mario Kart in the Rainbow Road, in addition to the karts of the Kong family they run on banana juice, while the Koopa’s army vehicles are fueled by lava, of course.

A must if you are a fan of Super Mario

“Super Mario Bros. The Movie is a great animated film for the whole family, hilarious, spectacular and with an almost frantic pace, but very well measured. It is a work that reintroduces us to characters we have known for decades, recognizable, but with a personality that makes them inseparable from their actors.
