1 years ago By AI Smith

In this digital day and age, video gaming is more than just a way to pass time for the youth. For
some exceptionally good players, video gaming is well on its way to becoming their bread &
butter. With some major leagues featuring massive prize pools underway, the country is gearing
up to enter these competitions.

The Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is one of the biggest games of the Indian subcontinent.
After the ban for PUBG was declared by the government of India on 2nd September, 2020, the
South Korean Gaming Giant Krafton launched BGMI to cater to the Indian masses who had
been head over heels with the Chinese game for quite a while. With slight aesthetic changes,
and an improved gameplay just as suspected, BGMI became one of the most infamous games
in India surpassing 130 million downloads as of July 2022 and over 50 million active users
monthly.

Krafton launched the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) in 2021 with a total prize pool of
₹1,00,00,000. It is the nation’s largest tournament, in terms of the prize pool, and the number of
participants. With four challenges tailored to figure out the ultimate team, over millions
participated. The grand finale, which was held between the 13th January 2022 and 16th
January 2022 saw the champion take home ₹50,00,000 in prize winnings.

With the success of the first tournament, it’s obvious that this incredible competition and the
hype it got is not backing down anytime soon. The second edition of the BGIS was announced
in 2023, and is currently underway. This year however, the prize pool has doubled from the
previous series, standing tall and proud at ₹2,00,00,000. Just like the previous edition, over
thousands of teams participated, and just 2048 teams qualified for the Round 1.

Over the last few weeks, the tournament has progressed and now we are well into the Semi Finals.
32 teams have qualified for the Semi Finals including 16 teams from the Quarter Finals and 16
from the Losers Bracket. The Semi Finals are going to be held between October 4th and
October 7th, and will follow a round-robin pattern. Out of the 32 teams in the Semi Finals, only
16 will advance into the Grand Finale which is to be held October 12th – 13th and 15th, 2023.
These 32 teams have exhibited excellent skills and panache that helped them secure their
well-deserved place in the Semi Final round.

The Grand Finals, which offer a prize fund of a staggering ₹2,00,00,000 to be dispersed among
the finalists on the basis of their rankings, will be attended by the top sixteen teams from the
four groups made up the semi-finals’ total points table. The winning team will attain a prize of
₹75,00,000, with the following runner ups earning ₹37,50,000, ₹25,00,000, ₹12,50,000
respectively.

Krafton has teamed up with JioCinema to live stream the event right from the Grind up until the
Grand Finale. This partnership will come in handy to bring in flocks of interested viewers and
might open up this tournament to even a wider demographic, bringing in a new set of fresh
eyes.

Along with their esteemed partnership with JioCinema, Krafton India is live streaming the entire
event on their website and their YouTube Channel Krafton India ESports. You can also catch
their highlights of the previous rounds on their YouTube Channel if you happened to have
