Skyesports Masters CS:GO Tournament Winner And Runner-Ups: Gods Reign Win, Prize Money And More

India’s first-ever franchised esports tournament, Skyesports Masters, concluded its Grand Finals on August 27. Following an intense competition that was going on for months since June 17 and through July and August, the champions were finally declared. Gods Reign has emerged on top as the winners of Skyesports Masters. Meanwhile Revenant Esports became the runners-up.

About Skyesports Masters 2023 CS:GO League

Skyesports Masters invited eight professional CS:GO teams to compete as franchises. Besides , café qualifiers were held as the first round between June 17 to 25. Here 16 players qualified to be inducted into the franchises. The tournament flaunted a total prize pool worth  INR 2 crores.

Post the café qualifiers, online playoffs, and masters league stage, the masters playoffs and grand finals were held as a LAN tournament. These took place on August 26 and 27 at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru.

Gods Reign’s journey in the Grand Final

The event had a single elimination bracket. This meant only one chance was granted to the players to qualify for the Grand Finals. Gods Reign ruled the Semi Finals against Marcos Gaming by winning 2-0.

On the contrary, Revenant Esports had to fight a tough battle against 7Sea Esports. Although they were one map down in the Semi Finals, they managed to make a comeback by winning the last two maps and thus secure the Grand Final spot.

In the final match, Revenant Esports chose to play the map of Anubis. It enjoyed a good a start in the first map and was leading by a margin of 4-1 before Gods Reign took the second point. They then went for a time-out. The time out turned out to be valuable for Gods Reign since it made a comeback and made Revenant Esports buckle up. 

A few intense rounds followed before Gods Reign equalized the score line and eventually took the lead. Revenant Esports were very good on this map throughout the event, however, Gods Reign was able to counter strategize and was able to emerge victorious.

Gods Reign Win

Finally, Gods Reign took down the tournament against Revenant Esports with a score of 2-0. For this they won the first prize of INR 44,25,000. On the other hand, Revenant Esports received INR 32,00,000 as runners-up. Marcos Gaming and 7Sea Esports ranked 3 and 4 respectively, each taking home prize money of INR 2,175,000. Other teams who participated in this tournament included Enigma Gaming, Reckoning Esports, Medal Esports and Velocity Gaming.

“We came into the Grand Finale to win it all and I am glad that my team was able to pull it off,” Gods Reign’s CS:GO team captain Hrishikesh “Crazy_Gamer” Shenoy said. “It truly feels amazing to win the inaugural season of the Skyesports Masters after the countless hours of practice and dedication we have put in. We are grateful to all our fans who came to the venue to support us and the others watching from home. This victory goes to them.”

Skyesports had signed Gigabyte Aorus as an official partner, while Zebronics was the peripheral partner. Similarly, Microsoft, AMD and Flipkart were also sponsors for the Masters CSGO League. Amidst all this its partnership with banned gambling company 1XBET created ssome controversies too.
