Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Crosses Over 10 Million Copies

1 years ago By AI Smith

FromSoftware  is one of the biggest successes from the studio. They developed Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice which proved out to be  the 2019 GOTY award winner. The adventures of Wolf the shinobi as he tries to avenge his clan has won the hearts of millions of fans worldwide. Till date the title remains a favorite and players still find various ways by which they can keep the game engaging. Off lately, one fan has modified one of the most dreaded bosses from another FromSoftware title in Sekiro and the community was astonished how well the mod fitted in.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has  again achieved another milestone that has surprised everyone. The fans believe that a beloved Souls-like game, Sekiro deserves the elite class. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was released in March of 2019. As an elaborate legacy of the devs, fans were astounded by the game’s incredible gameplay. FromSoftware’s creative thrust was asserted with a visually stunning world and immersive boss fights. Since then, players have been constantly improvising  to perfect their stealth movements and sword-wielding skills. In addition to this the Game of The Year award for 2019 was awarded to this game which further authenticated its credibility. .

Latest announcement from the devs has revealed that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has crossed the 10 million benchmark in its sales. Though it has taken somewhat longer to reach the milestone as compared to other games in the stream.

Initially Sekiro had sold over two million copies within 10 days of its launch and  five million copies were sold by July 2020. That figure has now tremendously doubled in the  past three years.

As compared to FromSoftware’s other seminal release Elden Ring had sold over 20 million copies worldwide since its release last year. However this highlights comparatively poor performance from Sekiro, fans did not find any major flaws in the game.

Fans worldwide have come together and claimed that Sekiro is a deserving candidate for the 10 million club. Sekiro’s unique combat system made it stand out from other titles from the studio while all other Souls-like games have a dedicated fan base. Many fans believe that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a fantastic masterpiece when it comes to game design.

Unlike other FromSoftware titles, Sekiro lacks the features of character creation or multiplayer modes. Not having these features and still managing to sell 10 million units should be the definitive proof of how well-made the game is.

IGN’s Sekiro review stated that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a stylish, focused stealth-action take on the FromSoftware formula that evolves in a different and refreshing direction. It may be a bit easier than a Souls game, but it’s something amazing all its own.

News of a new sales milestone for Sekiro over three years after the game came out has sparked thoughts of a potential sequel. FromSoftware never released DLC for Sekiro. Could it now be working on Sekiro 2 sequel?
