Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Coming To Netflix: All You Need to Know

12 months ago By AI Smith

The gaming world is becoming more excited as Netflix revealed that Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: The Ultimate Version would be available to stream on the platform beginning on December 14. Adding these vintage games to its ever-expanding collection of games. This is all the information you need to know about this big announcement.

The agreement to release this trilogy on the renowned OTT platform has been approved by Netflix and Rockstar Games, the British publishers of the well-known Grand Theft Auto series.

The three iconic games that comprise the Grand Theft Auto trilogy are GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas. Netflix has optimized each of them for mobile devices.

1. The definitive version of Grand Theft Auto III

It greets you with open arms in the notorious Liberty City. With a big and varied open world, a diverse cast of characters from all backgrounds, and total freedom to immerse oneself in the sinister, alluring, and brutal world of crime, Grand Theft Auto III offers players a lot to explore.

2. GTA Vice City, Definitive Edition-

Vice City is among the most well-known Grand Theft Auto games. wherein the player assumes the persona of Tommy Vercetti, a recent arrival to the Mafia who gradually advances through the ranks and establishes an empire. There is a lot of action and suspense in this realistic and captivating drama.

3. GTA San Andreas, Definitive Edition-

In yet another GTA megahit, the player assumes the role of Carl Johnson, or CJ, and sets out on an odyssey across the entirety of San Andreas to control the streets and provide safety for his family.

Pre-registration for the future games will begin on November 30 for those who have a Netflix membership, the company revealed. For all Netflix subscribers, the Grand Theft Auto trilogy will be playable for free starting on December 14, 2023.

Higher quality and textures, increased control, stability, and upgrades are all present in the Definitive edition.

If they want to play these games, users must download them individually from the iOS or Play stores. The gaming division of Netflix, which debuted in late 2021 and provides free mobile games to subscribers, has expanded gradually. Based on Apptopia data, CNBC reported that the average number of users of the streaming giant’s video games in 2018 was 1.7 million, which is less than 1% of the 221 million members that Netflix had in the same year. Netflix, however, claims that the build-up was intentional. During a recent earnings call, Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters informed investors that the company has not observed a “dissimilar” trend for the gaming business on the streaming platform. He pointed out that to introduce new genres to its user base, Netflix has to crawl, walk, and run. Adding a GTA component to their collection of video games can be beneficial for Netflix as the GTA franchise is the third-best-selling Games Franchise all over with the release of GTA V.

Only time will tell us if Netflix’s decision to add another popular franchise to its gaming catalogue will lead to more new subscribers to Netflix.
