EA Sports joins hands with Nike’s NFT Platform

1 years ago By Nicole Cau

EA Sports is the division of EA in charge of offering us sports titles of a different nature such as the FIFA saga that from this summer will become EA Sports FC as well as other titles such as  F1 23,  EA Sports UFC, Madden NFL, NHL and many others. of sports licenses.

For a few hours, we have known that EA plans to give these titles a new “touch” since EA Sports and Nike have joined forces, closing an alliance that will allow EA sports games to integrate the new .Swoosh platform created by Nike.

This platform focuses on the so-called new web3 and, particularly, on NFTs, allowing players to create, collect and exchange all kinds of NFT virtual objects as well as providing tools to create communities and offering all kinds of promotions related to Nike, something that they will be able to take advantage of in the future in games like EA Sports in which “EA Sports and Nike will select virtual creations of .Swoosh” that will be available to players.

Last May the .Swoosh platform launched the first collection of NFT sneakers that has already surpassed a million dollars in sales, so it seems that it is a pretty juicy business taking advantage of this type of content.

If we look back, the truth is that this movement by EA Sports should not surprise us since Andrew Wilson, director of the company, already declared at the end of 2021 that NFTs are “the future of our industry. I believe that in the context of the games we create and the services we offer, digital collecting will have an important weight in our future. So it’s early to talk, but I think we’re in a really good position,” the head of EA said at the time.

Ubisoft & Konami were among the first to experiment with this type of digital asset and, well, now it’s EA” turn.

“All of us at EA SPORTS are focused on leading the next evolution in passion for sports, and this new collaboration with our long-standing partners at Nike sits squarely at the intersection of innovation, sport and culture,” said Andrea Hopelain, Senior Vice President of Brand for EA SPORTS and Racing. “Working with .SWOOSH, we will bring creativity and self-expression to the forefront for fans as they connect, compete and share their love of the sport.”
