Anime no Tane” Animator Training Program Reveals 4 Projects For 2024

1 years ago By AI Smith

In an exciting unveiling, the Association of Japanese Animations has lifted the curtain on four upcoming anime projects as part of the eagerly anticipated “Anime no Tane” training initiative. This innovative program, first initiated in 2020 and championed by the Japanese government’s Agency of Cultural Affairs, is back with a fresh set of creative ventures.

A Legacy of Animation Excellence

The “Anime no Tane” program finds its roots in the broader “Young Animator Training Project,” a brainchild of Japan’s Agency of Cultural Affairs. Launched originally as “Anime Mirai” in 2010, this project aimed to foster the growth of domestic animation studios. It was a proactive response to the growing concern of the Japanese animation process being outsourced abroad, ultimately evolving into the renamed “Anime Tamago.” Over the years, this endeavor has given rise to exceptional works, including noteworthy titles such as “Little Witch Academia,” “Ongaku Shojo,” and the influential catalyst for the “Death Parade” television anime series, “Death Billiards.”

Anticipating a New Wave

Fast forward to 2024, and the “Anime no Tane” project is primed to roll out four original anime projects that are set to make a significant impact. Although the precise details of these projects are yet to be revealed, their grand debut is earmarked for “February or March 2024.” This suggests that fans and enthusiasts can expect a showcase of these artistic creations later in the year, signaling an exciting period of exploration, creativity, and enjoyment.

Elevating Skills, Igniting Passions

The core goal of these projects is multi-faceted: to enhance the skills of seasoned animators and nurture the talents of budding ones. Each venture brings unique expertise to the table, with studios taking on specific roles and responsibilities to cultivate a dynamic learning experience.

  1. Studio Graphinica is at the helm of the tentatively titled “Pop Pop City,” under the guidance of Director Takashi Horiuchi and Producer Kenta Takahashi. This project is designed to sharpen skills in pre-visualization production, key animation, and in-between animation.
  1. Studio GOONEYS takes charge of the intriguingly named “S-CAT,” led by Director Kazushi Ishihara and Producer Makoto Mizusawa. The focus here is on nurturing young 3DCG animators and production managers.
  1. Collaborative efforts between Studios Noovo and Eight Colors bring us the captivating “Salteel,” directed by Rio Shimizu and produced by Rei Tsukahara. This project targets the training of assistant producers, animators, and cinematographers.
  1. Lastly, Nippon Animation dives into the engaging realm of “KICKS and PUNK,” guided by Director Jinya Ichimura and Producer Yuri Nakajima. Their training endeavor spans production managers, episode directors, character designers, animation directors, and animators.

Pioneering Progress and Inspiring Excellence

“Anime no Tane 2024” stands as a testament to the ongoing commitment of the Association of Japanese Animations and the Agency of Cultural Affairs to nurture, guide, and propel the world of animation forward. With these fresh projects on the horizon, the journey to expand artistic boundaries and craft unforgettable narratives continues. Keep an eye out for the official announcements, and prepare to be captivated by the magic that emerges from the collaborative efforts of these visionary studios.
