Team India’s Dota 2 followers are gearing up for a shot at redemption as they prepare to participate in the highly anticipated Asian Games 2022. Indian Dota 2 team has recently tasted their remarkable victory at the Commonwealth E-sports Championships, now the squad is set to face formidable opponents from Kyrgyzstan and the Philippines in their opening group stage matches at the prestigious China Hangzhou E-sports Centre on September 29.

Led by the strong captain who is a skilled player, Darshan Bata (A35), this Dota 2 lineup features the talents of Krish Gupta (Krish-), Abhishek Yadav (Abhi-), Ketan Goyal (Evil-Ash), and Shubham Goli (Madness). In this article, know the journey of this talented squad, the expectations on their shoulders, and the road that lies ahead at the Asian Games.

Aiming for Glory at the Asian Games

The Indian Dota 2 team finds themselves placed in Group A, where they are scheduled to engage in Best-of-One (BO1) single round-robin format matches against Kyrgyzstan and the Philippines. These matches will determine the top-ranked team in the group, who will earn the right to proceed to the quarter-finals, where they will face Nepal on September 30.

As the tournament advances into the elimination stage, all matches will be fiercely contested in a head-to-head, Best-of-Three (BO3) single-elimination format. With 14 formidable teams participating in the Dota 2 category, the competition promises to be intense and unforgiving.

The Indian Dota 2 Dream

Captain Darshan Bata, who leads the Indian Dota 2 team, is acutely aware of the responsibility and honor that comes with representing India at the Asian Games. The entire team has been diligently practicing in the lead-up to the tournament, fueled by the desire to make their nation proud and secure a medal.

The squad’s qualification for the Asian Games 2022 was secured by triumphing in the finals of the National E-sports Championships (NESC), a remarkable achievement for Indian esports. Notably, key players on the team, including Ketan, Abhishek, and Shubham, were part of the historic squad that clinched the bronze medal at the inaugural Commonwealth Esports Championships held in Birmingham.
