5 Times When GTA Used Indian Locations

1 years ago By AI Smith

Rockstar Games, the developer of GTA, is known for creating fictional versions of real-world cities and other things in their games. Talking of Indian cities in the game, while there haven’t been any direct references to Indian cities so far there have been instances where GTA games incorporated elements resembling Indian culture or locations or had some Indian connection to it.

5 Times When GTA Used Indian Locations

Los Santos – GTA V (2013)

In GTA V, a parody of Los Angeles, the fictional city of Los Santos features a variety of ethnic districts and cultural components. Yoga and meditation, which are frequently connected to Indian culture and spirituality, are mentioned throughout the game.

Twin Dragon Casino – GTA: San Andreas (2004)

Even though it isn’t specifically Indian, the Twin Dragon Casino in GTA: San Andreas has a dragon-themed aesthetic with traces of  Asian culture, including some elements of Chinese and Indian design.

Characters and References – Various GTA Games

There have been characters and references from diverse ethnic origins, including Indian, throughout the entire series. Character names, dialogue, and in-game advertisements frequently contain these references, which are usually more subtly phrased.

Parody and Satire – Various GTA Games

Games like Grand Theft Auto are renowned for their satirical takes on current events and culture. The games frequently incorporate humorous commentary on globalization, immigration, and cultural diversity, which indirectly touch on parts of Indian culture and its role in a global environment, even though there may not be direct representations of Indian sites.

Modding Community

Numerous mods that include Indian settings, vehicles, and characters have been developed by the GTA modding community. The gamers can alter their gaming experience to include Indian features thanks to these mods, which are not a part of the official Grand Theft Auto games.

Apart from these there have been other Indian references in Gtand Theft Auto that often go unnoticed. The game’s depiction of the Liberty City airport is said tohave drawn inspiration from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. Besides the game’s radio stations often play songs by Indian artists.

Some fans have also spotted Indian traditional clothes in the game’s clothing stores. The stores sell items of clothing that are mostly found in India, such as saris and kurtas. The game also had a few references about Indian cuisine and Indian dishes specifically, samosas and tandoori chicken.

Please be aware that the information provided is based on guesses. It’s possible that there have been additions or changes in more recent versions of GTA that we are not aware of because Rockstar Games occasionally publishes updates and new material for their games. Look at games made expressly to highlight India or its legacy if you’re interested in researching Indian settings or culture in video games.
